The Canadian Evaluation Society Nova Scotia Chapter (CES NS) is launching a call for volunteers for enthusiastic and committed members who would like to contribute to the growth and strengthening of the evaluation community in Nova Scotia through the CES NS board.
As our chapter continues to grow and evolve, we are currently seeking volunteers for the following board roles. These volunteer leadership opportunities provide a meaningful way to:
- Contribute to the evaluation profession in Nova Scotia
- Build leadership and governance experience
- Expand your professional network
- Collaborate with evaluators across sectors
- Support students and emerging evaluators
Professional Development (PD) Chair
The PD Chair supports the planning and coordination of professional development activities for CES NS members.
Responsibilities
Coordinate webinars, workshops, and learning events
Support journal clubs and communities of practice
Help identify learning needs and opportunities for members

Interim Secretary
The Interim Secretary supports chapter governance and coordination.
Responsibilities
Assist with meeting scheduling and coordination
Support preparation and documentation of meeting minutes
Help maintain chapter records and communications
Support board administrative functions

Membership & Engagement Chair
The Membership & Engagement Chair supports member outreach, engagement, and recruitment efforts.
Responsibilities
Welcome and connect with new members
Support member engagement initiatives
Help coordinate outreach through the website and other member engagement platforms
Work closely with students and emerging evaluators

Networking and relationship building
Supporting volunteer growth and participation
Student and Emerging Evaluators Network (SEEN) Chair
The SEEN Chair will lead efforts to strengthen engagement, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for students and emerging evaluators within CES NS.
Responsibilities
Coordinate initiatives that support student and emerging evaluator participation in CES NS
Build connections with universities, colleges, and academic programs across Nova Scotia
Support networking, mentorship, and peer-learning opportunities
Help recruit and engage students interested in evaluation as a profession
Collaborate with CES National SEEN representatives and other Atlantic chapter networks
Support pathways for emerging evaluators to transition into leadership roles within CES NS
Who Can Apply?
We welcome expressions of interest from:
– CES members based in Nova Scotia.
– Individuals based in Nova Scotia who are not currently CES members but are willing to join the Society after joining the board.
Time Commitment
These are volunteer roles with flexible engagement expectations. Time commitments vary by role and season but are designed to be manageable alongside professional and personal commitments.
